How We Help Mothers Experiencing An Unplanned Pregnancy
She is young. She is afraid. She thinks she is pregnant, and she doesn’t know how the father will react. At the Life Line Pregnancy Center of Wilmington, this situation is very familiar to us. We see it every day.
We offer confidential, free, lab-certified pregnancy tests, confidential peer counseling, and most important, someone who will listen. We also provide educational information on adoption, parenting, abortion alternatives and what to expect during pregnancy. Our prenatal and infant care 101 classes give first-time moms and dads-to-be an opportunity to learn about pregnancy health and newborn care. Upon graduating, students are given a small shower and baby items.
We realize that almost half of all pregnancies among American women are unplanned and unintended. That is one reason why we believe women should be well-informed in order to make the best decision for their future. Our clients are treated with kindness and compassion, and they are served without regard to age, race, income, nationality, religious affiliation, disability or other arbitrary circumstances. In addition:
- Our clients receive accurate information about pregnancy, fetal development, lifestyle issues, and related concerns.
- We do not offer, recommend or refer for abortions or abortifacients, but we are committed to offering accurate information about abortion procedures and the risks involve.
- All of our advertising and communications are truthful, honest and accurately describe the services we offer.
- All of our staff and volunteers undergo extensive training, and are dedicated to upholding these standards with compassion and confidentiality.
We Believe In Making A Difference, One Life At A Time
That’s one reason we love the starfish. Throughout our website, social media, and publications, you’ll see it because it was inspired by this story:
A man is walking along the beach where thousands of starfish have washed ashore. He sees a young boy picking up the starfish and tossing them one-by-one into the ocean. When he asks why, the boy says, “tide is going out and if I don’t throw them farther in, they will die.” The man tells the boy that there are thousands and thousands of starfish and miles and miles of beach, and that his efforts couldn’t possibly make a difference.
In response, the young boy picks up a starfish and tosses it in the ocean.
“It made a difference to that one,” he said.
