It’s not too early to sign up for the Second Annual Life Line Pregnancy Care Center’s Run for Life. This run takes place on the Loop at Wrightsville Beach. If you’re not up for running, that’s okay as walkers are also welcomed. The $25 registration fee will raise money to provide free services to women in New Hanover County and surrounding communities. All donations are tax deductible.
The Run for Life will be held on Saturday, November 7, but you can register now. There is a $2.50 sign-up fee. The run is scheduled to start at 7:45 a.m. and end at 11 a.m.
Why Run?
This year alone, the Life Line Pregnancy Center helped more than 500 men and women. We offer free pregnancy tests, confidential peer counseling and information on adoption and abortion alternatives. In addition to providing open and honest answers about abortion, the Life Line Pregnancy Center offers parenting classes and dedicated mentors and counselors who can help young women discuss important issues. These issues include: telling their family, telling the father, and how to face pressure from those who may want her to have an abortion.
Started in 1985, the Life Line Pregnancy Center became a certified medical clinic in 2010. This enabled us to provide free pregnancy tests and ultrasound scans. Primary clients are college and career-age women. Our mission is to provide compassionate support by empowering those at risk or impacted by unplanned pregnancy. Our desire is to educate and provide accurate information for all individuals with whom we come into contact. Last year we provided 735 free pregnancy tests that are lab-certified and over 99 percent accurate. We offer classes in pre-natal and infant care, as well as Parenting 101 sessions. Our values are deeply rooted in our Christian faith, as we strive to serve others of all races, cultures and creeds.
While we do want to provide information on abortion alternatives, we recognize that some women who come to us may have already had an abortion. This often has devastating psychological effects, causing pain, grief and guilt. We offer a non-judgmental and caring environment to provide a safe haven for these women.
None of these needed programs would be possible without our donors. For more information on how we spend donations, click here.
